STUDENT SUPPORT PLAN (SSP)
Policy Statement
The School is committed to providing equitable access to learning for all students, including those with diagnosed disabilities, learning differences, medical needs, and accessibility requirements. The School provides reasonable accommodations to support meaningful participation in academic and school-related activities, consistent with its capacity as a private educational institution.
Purpose of the SSP
The Student Support Plan (SSP) serves as the School’s internal framework for documenting and coordinating student accommodations and supports. The SSP is the private-school equivalent of an IEP or 504 Plan and is designed to address academic, social-emotional, behavioral, safety, and accessibility needs.
Identification & Documentation
Families may submit documentation including, but not limited to:
- Previous IEPs or 504 Plans
- Psychological or educational evaluations
- Medical or developmental reports
- Behavior support plans
- Therapy or specialist records
Documentation is used to inform SSP development. Parents are encouraged, but not required, to disclose known disabilities during enrollment to allow the School to plan appropriate supports.
The School does not conduct formal psychological testing. When concerns arise, the School may document observations, implement interventions, convene a Student Support Team (SST), and recommend outside evaluations.
Student Support Team (SST)
The SST coordinates SSP development and implementation. Members may include:
- Executive Director
- Director of Student Services
- School Counselor (if applicable)
- Classroom Teacher
- Hybrid Center Coordinator
- Parent/Guardian
- Student (when age-appropriate)
SST meetings are triggered by documentation submission, academic or behavioral concerns, safety considerations, or accessibility barriers.
SSP Content & Review
Each SSP may include:
- Student strengths and areas of need
- Required academic and behavioral accommodations
- Online and hybrid accessibility supports
- SEL and behavior strategies
- Safety considerations
- Progress monitoring and review schedule
SSPs are reviewed at least annually, after significant changes in performance, or upon request by staff or family.
Limitations
As a private school, the School provides reasonable accommodations but may not offer:
- Direct special education instruction
- Related services (unless contracted)
- One-to-one aides unless privately funded
- Services beyond staff capacity or safety scope
Families may need to coordinate external services or pursue evaluations through their public school district.
