Daily SEL Implementation
SEL is embedded into daily instruction through structured Thrively routines and classroom practices. These routines are implemented across all learning blocks.
Student Wellness Activities
Students regularly participate in:
- Thrively Wellness Checks
- Hope Gauge reflections (as scheduled)
- Strength-based journaling
- Goal setting and micro-habit routines
- Weekly reflection cycles
Teacher Responsibilities
Teachers are responsible for:
- Opening each class with an SEL check-in
- Reinforcing strengths-based language and practices
- Monitoring changes in student mood, engagement, or behavior
- Reviewing flagged Thrively responses daily
- Escalating concerns to the Student Support Team (SST) when warranted
Counseling Systems
Tiered Mental Health Support Structure
Tier 1: Universal Wellness Supports
- Daily Thrively SEL routines
- Growth mindset practices
- Classroom-based wellness checks
- Hope Gauge reflections
- Teacher-led SEL instruction
- Positive and inclusive classroom culture
Tier 2: Targeted Supports
- Small group interventions
- Short-term counseling check-ins (as available)
- Parent communication and collaboration
- SEL skill-building interventions
- Restorative conversations
Tier 3: Intensive Interventions
- Individual counseling services (if available)
- Behavior intervention or Student Support Plans (SSPs)
- Referrals to outside mental health providers
- Crisis response and safety planning
- Hybrid attendance modifications when required for safety
School Counselor Role (If Applicable)
The School Counselor may:
- Provide SEL and emotional support
- Conduct wellness screenings
- Facilitate small groups
- Manage crisis interventions
- Collaborate with families and staff
- Coordinate external referrals
- Maintain confidentiality in accordance with law and policy
Confidentiality and Legal Limits
Student information is kept confidential unless disclosures indicate:
- Risk of harm to self
- Risk of harm to others
- Abuse or neglect
- Other safety threats
In such cases, staff must comply with mandatory reporting requirements.
