FERPA REQUIREMENTS
Policy Statement
The School complies fully with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and all applicable state privacy laws. FERPA protections apply to all educational records and extend to parents or eligible students once a student reaches 18 years of age.
Parent and Student Rights
Parents (or eligible students) have the right to:
- Inspect and review educational records
- Request correction of inaccurate or misleading records
- Consent to disclosure of personally identifiable information (PII)
- Restrict disclosure of directory information
- Receive a copy of the School’s FERPA policy
- File a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education
Requests to inspect records will be fulfilled within the timeframe required by law.
Consent and Disclosure
Educational records may be disclosed only:
- With written parent or eligible student consent
- To another educational institution upon student transfer
- To state or voucher authorities for compliance and audit purposes
- In health or safety emergencies
- To approved educational partners operating under contractual data privacy agreements
Directory Information
Directory information may include student name, grade level, awards, participation in activities, and photographs when appropriate consent is provided. Parents may opt out annually through a written request.
